Farleys Bungee Girls!
As everybody knows Farleys staff like to let their hair down out of work and most can't resist a challenge!
Family solicitor Kelcy Horne certainly couldn't when Julie Gambella, who skilfully runs the reception at 1-2 Richmond Terrace asked her to do a reverse bungee in aid of the Dr Joe Jaffe, Renal Unit Appeal, which provides life saving equipment for children all over the North-West. When asked she replied " Of course!". Head strong girl! - ed.
As the weeks passed and the Reverse bungee jump grew closer friends and colleagues sent in donations and emails of support, which went along the lines of "Are you mad?". Meanwhile Julie kindly assisted in the background with organising the event and additional fund raising. Being on reception, no one was allowed to pass Julie without providing a donation to the charity!
Finally the 9th of February arrived and after doing her bit at Farleys free morning surgery, Kelcy prepared for her reverse bungee jump and as the time grew closer Kelcy thought " This really can't be that bad? I am not that mad, am I? ". Never fear Kelcy, we have expert personal injury lawyers on hand! - ed.
At 3.00pm Kelcy attended the Willows Restaurant. Her friends and colleagues joined her to offer moral support. Kelcy then managed to convince trainee solicitor, Laura Walmsley, that for the sum of £10 she could join her. After some deliberation Laura agreed to provide the ultimate support and sit beside Kelcy to be launched into the air! See what I mean about Farleys and challenges! - ed.
The organising safety team called Kelcy and Laura to the ball, they both took their seats. They looked at each other and wondered what the heck they were doing. Too late now!
The operator then cranked up the machinery and the elastic began to stretch, Kelcy and Laura were then fired into the air, the ball rotated 360 degrees and what felt like 360,000 times. As Laura screamed Kelcy shouted " Are you crying? ", Laura's only response was to scream again! Eventually after what felt like a decade the ball steadied and they were brought down to the ground, still in one piece!
Kelcy and Laura emerged, shaking with the adrenalin rush, to walk back to their friends and colleagues who all congratulated them and asked them about the experience. Laura and Kelcy both looked at each other and said " We are just glad it is over! ".
After a successful afternoon Laura and Kelcy raised £136 for the charity. The next charity event that Laura and other members of Farleys will be taking part in is the Race For Life were the ladies of Farleys will do a 5 kilometre run in memory of their colleague, Nicola Lang on the 4th June 2008.
