Daniel Draper LLB (Hons)
Daniel Draper joined Farleys as a commercial litigation solicitor in 2005, but his relationship with the North West firm started when he was only 18 and his entrepreneurial streak led him to create a successful legal costs business.
Before joining The University of Central Lancashire, where he obtained his LLB Law qualification and completed the Legal Practice Course, Daniel ran Quest Legal Costs Consultants; a company that specialised in negotiating costs for personal injury claimants between law firms and insurance companies.
As a strong business relationship developed with Farleys, Daniel sold his own business and joined the firm full time when he completed his university studies three years ago.
Since then 27-year-old Daniel, who is based at Farleys commercial headquarters at Shadsworth Business Park, has worked on hundreds of cases. These have included contract disputes, property disputes, professional negligence and, most notably, commercial and employee fraud.
In November 2007 Daniel successfully won a civil action for a terminally ill man; company director Mr Kenneth Harrison. Daniel recovered over £80,000 from Mr Harrison's former employee Ms Mandy Mills, who had stolen the money from him over a two year period whilst she worked at his firm, UK Maintenance Services Ltd, in Accrington. Ms Mills, who spent the money on a lavish lifestyle whilst Mr Harrison was receiving treatment for terminal leukaemia, has subsequently been convicted in the criminal courts and jailed for 18 months.
Daniel, who is a member of the Law Society, said: "Employee fraud is becoming much more commonplace nowadays and our experience and proven track record of dealing with this type of case means that we have seen a marked increase in the amount of cases with which we are involved in this area.
Indeed our Commercial department, in its new purpose built offices, is continuing to expand in all areas based on its reputation for providing a "one-stop shop" service for clients".
Although living in Manchester, Daniel spends a lot of his spare time watching his beloved Everton. He also enjoys socialising with friends, attending concerts and supporting charity events.
