Farleys Contract with LSC for VHCC Work
Farleys have contracted with the Legal Services Commission (LSC) to provide their expertise in the area of very high costs criminal cases.
The LSC have designated that a Very High Cost Case (VHCC) is one where:
- the trial is likely to last for more than 40 days
- where the trial is likely to last between 25 and 40 days and meets the criteria below.
Trials that last between 25 and 40 days are VHCCs if they are:
- terrorism prosecutions
- SFO prosecutions.
or any two of:
- at least 10,000 pages of the prosecution evidence
- at least 10,000 pages of the unused or third party material
- more than five defendants
- fraud or serious drugs cases where the value of the fraud or drugs exceeds £1m.
The LSC are trying to ensure that only the very best firms with all the experience technology and resources to deal with large complex criminal work are allowed to do this work. The LSC set up two panels of the most experienced solicitors. Because of Farleys history and expertise in this complex area we were appointed to the top panel of suppliers, who undertake this work.
